Executive Director and Artistic Director
Clayton Pasi Gunguwo is a Zimbabwean-Canadian multidisciplinary artist, composer, educator, and cultural producer based in Edmonton.
His work blends traditional Zimbabwean music, community-based learning, and contemporary performance. Since arriving in Canada in 2001, Pasi has delivered marimba and mbira workshops across schools, festivals, and cultural institutions nationwide.
As founder of Jabulani World Music Society in British Columbia and now Izwi Lethu Arts Society in Alberta, Pasi continues to build professional platforms where African artists lead their own narratives through music, theatre, film, and visual arts.
Chair
Leo Chamahwinya serves as Board Chair, providing governance leadership and strategic oversight. Secretary / Finance
Penny Spalding serves as Secretary and Finance lead, supporting strong internal systems, board documentation, and financial stewardship. Her role strengthens organizational compliance, clear reporting, and responsible management of resources in alignment with funder and governance requirements.

Tanaka Nyatoro serves as a Member-at-Large, contributing perspective, community connection, and support across organizational priorities. The role helps strengthen Izwi Lethu’s responsiveness to artists and audiences while advancing key initiatives and partnerships.
